CUT SELECTION CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS 2026: ‘DUALITY’

After a year’s hiatus, Cut Selection is back. This year, we invite submissions from writers who have yet to publish a full-length collection on the theme of ‘Duality’. The Selection will then have its own dedicated space on our website for a limited period (usually six months).

We have quite eclectic tastes, but if you want to get a flavour of the sort of work that excites us and what we do ourselves, check out the news page or see our individual author pages from the homepage. Successful authors will benefit from exposure via our social media accounts during the showcase period and additionally there will be an opportunity for one person to receive a workshop with members of Cut.

The small print: see the guidelines below for more detailed information, to check eligibility and our criteria for submission.

We look forward to reading your work

  1. This is an opportunity for writers who are yet to publish a full length work (either in print, online or on their own websites) aged 18 and over. Entrants can submit single works of poetry, prose or hybrid writing, each piece of poetry not exceeding 200 lines and each piece of prose not exceeding 5000 words. Work should be primarily written in English, but writers from anywhere in the world are encouraged to submit.

  2. This year’s theme is ‘Duality’. We encourage writers to be adventurous and are looking for quality work, whether it be experimental or more conventional in its approach.

  3. Work must be submitted in either .docx or .pdf formats and submitted to cutcollectivewriters@gmail.com. Submission by any other method will be ineligible.

  4. Work must be submitted with the following information, or will be judged ineligible: writer’s name, email address, preferred pronouns and a word/line count.

  5. Successful submissions will be chosen and published on www.cutcollectivewriters.org for what is expected to be a minimum of six months. This period may be shortened or extended for any reason at the discretion of members of Cut Collective.

  6. One of the successful entrants, selected by Cut, will be eligible for a one-hour online workshop in which one or more of our members will offer advice on samples of the entrant’s writing (up to 200 lines of poetry or 5000 words of prose or hybrid work) to be supplied in advance of the workshop.

  7. Copyright of any and all submissions, whether chosen by Cut Collective for publication or not, remains with their respective writers. Entrants are free to publish them anywhere else in whatever format they wish. If an entrant wants their work removed from this website, please make contact and we will do this as soon as possible. Any third party who wishes to republish, copy or in any other manner use an entrant’s work must contact the entrant for permission.

  8. Any work which is judged to be prejudiced in any manner (including, but not limited to misogyny, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia and ableism) is not and never will be eligible for publication on www.cutcollectivewriters.org and any submissions suspected of incitement to hatred may be submitted to the police. We do, however, encourage intelligent, respectful, adult explorations of difficult subjects. Be adventurous, bold, challenging and experimental – just don’t be an asshole.

  9. If you have previously had work accepted for Cut Selection, we ask that you wait until two further editions have been published before submitting new work for consideration.

  10. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 30 June 2026. We will endeavour to respond to all submissions – whether to accept or decline - within four weeks, but please be patient if it takes a little longer as we are all juggling multiple projects. Thank you!
