FULL COPY OF MARK’S ‘NEXT TO NOTHING and THIS WAS MEANT TO BE A STORY’

Back in 2021 Mark’s first pamphlet NEXT TO NOTHING and THIS WAS MEANT TO BE A STORY was published by Beir Bua Press which chose the work as a winner of the 2021 Laurence Sterne Prize. The collection was also nominated for the Queen’s University Belfast’s Seamus Heaney Poetry Prize for First Full Collection in 2023.

The two poetic essays within the book are an exploration of languages’ murkier side, making for a “hybrid text” that, according to Adam Piette; Professor of Modern Literature at the University of Sheffield, co-editor of the international poetry journal Blackbox Manifold, “seduces readers with magnificent storytelling; while questioning writing’s disinformational public-relations trickery with superb, unsettling comic brio.”

Unfortunately, Beir Bua Press has since closed, leaving the pamphlet unavailable for some time, so Mark has decided to make the pamphlet available once again through Cut Collective, and what’s more this is a unique version with a brand new cover designed by the writer which restores the text to its previously unavailable original landscape format.
